How To Make Christmas Puppy Chow Recipe
Puppy Chow Recipe Ingredients
- 9 cups Chex cereal
- 8oz white chocolate or white melting chocolate
- 1/2 cup peanut putter
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup sprinkles (we used Berry Bliss sprinkle mix)
Puppy Chow Recipe Steps
Pour Rice Chex cereal into a large bowl and set aside. In a separate small microwave safe bowl add white chocolate, peanut butter, and butter. Place in microwave and heat until completely melted. (you will need to stop and stir every 30 seconds or so until smooth)
Pour melted ingredients mixture over the cereal and stir in with a rubber spatula until cereal is completely covered. Once covered add powdered sugar and stir again until covered. Once all cereal is covered add in sprinkles. We chose Christmas sprinkles but you can mix and match any sprinkles for coloring.
We served our White Chocolate Puppy Chow in our solid pink ice cream treat cups for the party this time. This recipe would be so perfect wrapped up for gifting as well! If you are the type that makes a ton of treat for Christmas, adding this to the list would be seamless. This is the perfect holiday treat!
Christmas Puppy Chow FAQs
Would flavored Chex cereal work great with this recipe?
Yes! There are so many different flavors on grocery store shelves that would add to the flavor combo. We especially love using the vanilla and chocolate flavors throughout these recipes. Using the vanilla cereal tastes almost like you added a little vanilla extract to this recipe. If you are making a chocolate version though, you just have to use the chocolate cereal, it’s heavenly! Have fun changing it up!
Is this similar to trail mix?
If you want to change it up, you can make it more like a trail mix by adding chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or other candies. We chose just sprinkles for this Christmas puppy chow because the colors popped perfectly against the white of the chex mix.
The thing about this puppy chow recipe is that it is SO versatile, really. You can coat with color powder sugar, use different cereals, add different sprinkles and candies. Just think how great it would be with chocolate dipped pretzels included! The options are endless!
How would you suggest gifting this for Christmas?
We love gathering up plastic ornaments for this very thing. You can make a customized label and give as school gifts that students can snack on later. Of course you can always fill Christmas tins or jars like you see everywhere but we love the ornament idea. It’s such a unique presentation.
