If you’ve followed us for a while, you know by now that we love to talk 4th of July treats. Like, a lot. Summer’s just a fun time to get baking, and we’re especially grateful that there’s a holiday in the middle of it that we can use to theme our desserts and sweets!
We tend to have a lot of picnics around July 4th, as well as on the day itself. (The weather’s nice, so why not get together and sit outside with buddies?) And we love preparing yummy snacks for our loved ones. So, today, we’ll show you how we put together our July 4th “dessert board” of cupcakes, Oreo truffles, candy, and more!

These Patriotic Oreo Balls are easy to make, only take a handful of ingredients and everyone loves them!

All you need are a handful of ingredients and about 10 minutes and you have a snack mix that the whole family will love!

Patriotic Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookies
Ingredients
- Oreo Cookies – or really any type of cookie work for this
- Almond Bark – white chocolate is best, but you can also use chocolate
- Red and Blue Candy Melts
- Patriotic Sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper
- Add sprinkles to small bowls
- Add 3-4 blocks of the almond bark to a microwave safe bowl
- Heat in the microwave for 1 minute, stir then continue cooking for 20-30 seconds at a time until the chocolate is almost melted
- Stir until completely smooth
- Dip cookie into melted chocolate and let excess drip off
- Add sprinkles immediately
- Lay on prepared baking sheet until chocolate has hardened, about 10 minutes
- While the white chocolate is setting, melt the red and blue candy melts in separate bowls using the same heating method as before. Transfer the melted chocolate to plastic squeeze bottles. You can also use a spoon to drizzle or a resealable bag, but we have found that the bottles work the best and are super easy to use.
- Drizzle cookie

Patriotic Pretzel Sandwiches
Ingredients
- Square pretzels
- Peanut Butter or Nut Butter
- Mini Chocolate Chips, optional
- Almond Bark – white chocolate is best, but chocolate is fine too
- Patriotic Sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper
- Add sprinkles to small bowls
- Lay pretzels out onto baking sheet
- Fill a plastic decorator bag with peanut butter. This is optional, but we have found that it’s super easy to use and less messy.
- Add a few mini chocolate chips for extra flavor if you like.
- Top with another pretzel
- Melt 2 blocks of almond bark in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds, stir and continue heating for 10-20 seconds at a time until chocolate is almost melted. Stir until completely smooth
- Dip edge of pretzel sandwich in melted chocolate
- Immediately add sprinkles
- Set on baking sheet until chocolate is set

Patriotic Mini Ice Cream Cones
Ingredients
- Mini Ice Cream Cones – you can also use regular size, however to fit on the dessert board, it’s best to use the mini size
- Almond Bark – white chocolate is best to use
- Patriotic Sprinkles
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper
- Add sprinkles to small bowls
- Melt 2 blocks of almond bark in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds, stir and continue heating for 10-20 seconds at a time until chocolate is almost melted. Stir until completely smooth
- Dip edge of ice cream cone into melted chocolate
- Immediately add sprinkles
- Set on baking sheet until chocolate is set
- Fill with candy, fruit or ice cream

To create board
- Start with large board, using one with edges is easiest
- Begin by adding the largest items in first like the Oreo Truffles, Cupcakes, Mini Ice Cream Cones and Oreos
- Then add next largest items like the berries, licorice and larger candy pieces
- Now add the medium size items like candy
- Fill holes with smallest items like pretzels, small candy and raisins
