We have been working on some super secret things here at Sweets & Treats over the last few months. Well, it really started almost two years ago but who’s counting. For our loyal #SweetsSquad members, we finally release the results of your vote! You voted on what a mini size actually was when it came to baking with mini cupcake liners. We gave you a choice between a typical mini size or a larger midi cupcake liners size and results were not surprising at all!

MIDI won by a landslide! We are asked regularly when we will be offering cupcake liners in sizes other than standard size and we’re stoked to be able to point you to guys to our new mini cupcake liner offering!

What Size Are Mini Cupcake Liners?
Typical mini liners are usually 1.375″b x 0.75″h and produce a tiny cupcake that can usually be consumed in one bite. You can usually find these liners any and everywhere in limited colors. Our midi cupcake liners however are a slightly larger baking cup with a 1.5″ base x 1″ high. They produce a bigger cupcake that can be consumed in two bites. This cupcake case is about half the size of our standard you’ve come to know and love.

Midi Cupcake Liners FTW!
At nearly 75% of the total vote, midi baking cups were the clear winner! You guys showed so much interest in a larger mini baking cup and we delivered! To be honest, we are so relieved. We aren’t really fans of mini cupcakes either. They don’t ever seem to be as moist as our beloved standard size cuppies and really leave much to be desired.
Midi cupcakes are a little too big to eat in one bite but are not nearly as big as a standard size cupcake which is about double the bites. Who knew all of this could be broken down into how many bites it takes to eat a cupcake?! Any tootsie pop commercials coming to your mind yet?

Which Mini Baking Pan Is Best?
Since our midis have a larger base, that must mean they need a different cupcake pan, right? In a pinch, the midis still fit in mini cupcake pan but don’t reach the bottom all the way. This could result on a lopsided mini cupcake if you aren’t perfectly centered. We’ve tested and baked plenty of perfect midi cupcakes in standard mini pans to be sure.
Obviously for perfect cupcakes you want the perfect pan. Our absolutely favorite is Calphalon 24 cup mini muffin pan but any mini pan that has a 1.5″ base for the cavity will work perfectly! We’ve tried out a shorter Chicago Metallic brand pan that worked great too.
UPDATE: We’ve heard that it’s hit and miss with this pan so here are two other alternatives that we use often! Wilton Perfect Results 48 count pan and Chicago Metallic Mini Muffin Pan. The Chicago metallic is a little bit lower so the liners stick out above but it definitely keeps its shape.

Which Scoop Works Best To Fill?
No matter what pan you use, the scoop is the most important step for us. Knowing that this would be the most popular question, we did a bit of test baking. Our favorite scoops are always Vollrath brand and our black 1oz cookie scoop is the perfect one to use for our midi size cupcake liners.
We are pretty strict on perfect filling of our cups, you can find our tips and tricks here so you can make uniform cupcakes every.single.time.

Other Uses For Midi Cupcake Liners
Much like there are so many uses in the baking world and beyond for standard baking cups, the same goes for midis! Besides baking, our midis are used for dressing up cake pops by just placing the flat bottom right in the liner. With 25 colors, you can’t go wrong when you need to match your theme! They also go great for candy cups and holding cake balls like these.

So exciting! Can’t wait to see which one comes out on top!
I’m so surprised at the results coming in. Can’t wait to announce it!
I don’t make mini cupcakes either.
Thanks for your input!
I mostly make mini muffins solely to freeze and pack into my kids school snacks, however the true mini is also a good size for my 1.5 yr old to hold and eat without just smushing nd crumbling it all over!
Such a good use! Thanks so much for your input!
The option for both would be great!
Thank you for your input!
I can get standard minis anywhere, I’d love to see the two bite size, just to change it up!
Thanks for voting. Can’t wait to announce!
I just want to make sure it fits in the standard sized mini-cupcake pans.
Sheri, The photo with the pan is a standard mini size pan. As you can see, the liners are a little taller. There a few pans that they fit better in. We are doing a lot of research right now to help when we do announce if we end up doing this size. Thanks so much for your input!
I definitely prefer the midi size and yes they’re very hard to come by. I like that they can fit my regular sized cupcake pans. Please, please, please do the midi size. I’ll be your customer for life…lol. But seriously though do the midi size.
You are too much! They are very hard to come by. Thanks so much for your input!
Love the bigger mini… because of what I have to charge my customer that wants minis, I feel like they are getting a little more cupcake for their buck… it’s a win win. 🙂
That is such a good point. Thanks so much for your input!
Thanks for voting, can’t wait to announce the results!
I love the two bite cupcake (one bite is just a teaser). Can’t wait to see which one wins!
Love them both. I have made minis but never a midi. Would love to give the midi’s a try!
I lode the midi size! And have been looking for those liners and pans too! Hopefully the midi wins!
My vote is for the midi liner. Sure hope they win!!
I am a baker, and i personally think that the smaller ones are more pretty and petite. Mini isn’t mini unless it’s true mini. So excited for these to arrive!!!
I think midi size would be wonderful!! Not just for cupcakes either-cookie cups/little pies & tarts… I don’t make minis, but I WOULD bake midis!! Also, for all you fans of the mini’s, using up those left over egg cartons to package minin’s in a new, adorable way to recycle and package for parties or gifts! Happy baking everyone!!!
Hi, I was wondering if you are making the midi size cupcake liners? And if you do what colors ?
Thank you for coming out with these!! I think the normal mini’s are too tiny to even bother with, but have wanted to bake something in between that and the standard size for a long time. I searched online for such a thing a couple of years ago with no luck. But thought I’d try again just now and found these. So happy! Can’t wait to try them.
Yayy!!! We are so glad you found us. We couldn’t agree more. Love the midis!
I have been looking for these “midi” size liners for a long time, are they available for purchase? I see them used commercially,I am a very avid home baker! This is a correction to my first text which didn’t make sense
They are! We launched last year. You can find the link in the blog post as well as here: https://www.shopsweetsandtreats.com/cupcake-liners/mini-cupcake-liners
Absolutely love the new “midi” size cupcake liners!!! My only problem was it is very difficult to separate each one before putting it in cupcake pans. Then they become mis-sharpen and pull away from batter. Anyone have a trick or hint for this? Anxiously awaiting response!
