Edible glitter is all the obsession right now on baking and decorating shows and we couldn’t be more on board! Our newest decorating line: Luxe Edible Glitter & Luster Dust has launched just in time to get your dessert table shining in all of its shimmery glory.

This food safe glitter line pairs so well with our ever popular edible sprinkles to bring you all the shimmer and shine to make your treats sparkle. There are so many uses for this line of edible glitter dusts that you just won’t be able to stop using it! Promise.
To start, let’s discuss this edible glitter in general and what makes ours the best and brightest out there. Learn how to use it, what it’s made of, and how much you need for all the many uses!
Chances are you’ve been seeing confectionery glitters on the market for years now. Mostly on cupcakes and added shimmer dust to royal icing decorated cookies. These are the most popular uses. Our newest line also excels at being used in beverages, like this drink!, as well as lining silicone molds for cocoa bombs and cakesicles.
What is Edible Glitter?
Luxe glitters are safe to consume like other edible versions but ours are perfectly formulated to also be used in drinks including cocktails, beers, wine, seltzers, and any other liquid regardless of alcohol content! This formulation means larger glitter size flakes which means better liquid suspension as well as brightness when dry dusting. Edible glitter in drinks is going to be your new favorite use!
How to use Edible Glitter
Edible Glitter Uses
- Spray On Food & Desserts
- Dry Dust on Cookies
- Stir In Cocktails and Beverages
- Glitter Cherries
- Gender Reveal Drinks
Our edible glitter for drinks and food takes shimmery to a whole new level! Our glitter flakes are perfectly sized to reflect light perfectly to show off your baked goods. Fill one of our dust spray pumps with a full jar of glitter and spray all.the.things. This application method will be the most evenly applied. This decorating glitter can also be dry brushed on macarons, cookies, and any other dessert you want to add shimmer to. Dry brushing gives a subtle shimmer compared to the spray pump method.

Glitter For Drinks
Last but certainly not least (and our favorite part), our glitter is specially formulated for drinks. Can you add any old edible glitter to drinks, certainly, even though they aren’t FDA approved to do so. But Luxe glitter has a full grain size to suspend in liquids way longer than other glitters on the market. Scoop a little in your dry glass and pour your cocktail or beverage of choice. Watch the prismatic swirl of gorgeous glittery color right before your eyes. This glittering effect is something you’ll love watching time and time again! Check out our Socialite rose gold glitter color, it’s a best seller! This glitter is most popular with our beverage customers for their drinks (cocktails, beer, wine). This is especially fun for Gender Reveal glitter new to our shop!

What is Luster Dust?
Luxe dusts are a microfine shimmer particle size making them water soluble and perfect for food paint and fine details. You can use this to add a slight pearlescent shimmer to cookies and desserts but once you do a metallic drip cake using this edible luster dust, you’ll never go back to melting chocolate!

Metallic Drip Cakes
Have you seen gorgeous edible gold cakes before? Yup, you guessed it, that’s luster dust in action. Check out our metallic drip tutorial! Luster dust adds a perfect shimmer when dry brushed but add a little vodka or alcohol based flavoring extract and voila, edible food paint! The liquid will evaporate and leave behind a perfect shade of paint. Painted cake tiers are our favorite way to use dust but a newest obsession is dry dusting dust in our cakesicle molds and filling with white candy melts. Boom, colored cakesicles WITHOUT having to color the chocolate for candies, cookies, and cakes.

Shimmer Dust For Painting
Luxe dusts are perfect for painting fondant and gum paste pieces during cake decorating. These pearl dusts are such a versatile tool in your decorating arsenal. Go ahead and check them out, we know you’ll love our most popular Glamour and Mercury (gold and silver) jars. These two colors make gorgeous cake drips! Glitter Shapes – Why You Need Them

What makes our Luxe glitter different?
We know, we know. All the glitter you are seeing in your cake decorating aisle, what makes ours different?
Made for desserts AND drinks.
For starters our glitter is one of the most expansive in use that you’ll find on the market. Not only are our glitters great for cake decorating, they are specially formulated for DRINKS. Yup, you read that right. We stuck with larger particles for all that shine but made them especially shaped to suspend in liquids for way longer than other cake glitters on the market. Use our spray pump to shine up your strawberries and throw some in your wine for good measure. Give it a little swirl to watch the motion unfold.

100% edible ingredients
Our glitters and edible dusts use food coloring and shimmer ingredients approved by the fda. No more ‘non-toxic’ nonsense. Feel safe decorating with food grade Luxe for your cakes, cupcakes, cakesicles, and so much more. A bonus is that they are vegan and gluten free, nut free, and dairy free.

HUGE variety of colors
We offer a line of edible glitter for drinks and food as well as a full line of matching colors in edible luster dust as well. With a full offering of more than 20 colors each, you’ll find exactly the shade you are looking for on those baked goods. We even offer seasonal glitter sets for all of those upcoming holiday needs!

Edible Glitter FAQs:
Is edible glitter really edible?
This is the most important question in this post. As with our line of sprinkles, we only offer 100% edible confectionery products. No plastics, no “non-toxic” or ‘for decoration only’ statements. We expect you to consume it, so how could we tell you otherwise?
Luxe Glitters & Luxe Dusts are 100% edible. Made from only FDA approved ingredients, these shimmer dusts can be used on foods, desserts, and even in drinks! Yes, DRINKS.
What is edible glitter made of?
Our edible glitter dust products are all made from FDA approved mica powder pigments and food coloring. That’s it!
Is edible glitter the same as regular glitter?
No, definitely not. Regular glitters can be made from plastics and other toxic materials. Our edible glitters are made from FDA approved, food grade ingredients, 100% food safe and edible, tasteless/textureless, and are nut free, dairy free, and gluten free.
Back to these glitter drinks…. How much should I use for cocktails?
Each 4g jar can make anywhere from 15-20 glitter drinks. The only word of caution is that colored drinks will change what color the glitter turns into. We recommend liquids that are white/clear or as close to clear if you really need the color to stay the jar color.
How can I spray Luxe Glitter?
You can convert any of our jars into an edible glitter spray using our pumps. We stock a clear dust pump sized to perfectly fit one jar of glitter. Just pour a full jar into our pump and spray away!
A small amount of glitter goes a very long way. The closer to the cupcake or cookie, the more focused the glitter will be. Spray from a little further back if you want to cover more area or if you want to spray a small amount per item.
Can edible glitter be used in drinks?
Luxe Glitter line is specially formulated for drinks. The tiny glitter flake sizes of our jars give extra shimmer time to your drinks. Our drink glitter stays suspended in drinks longer than most on the market. It’s not just edible glitter you put in drinks, is made FOR drinks.
