A Grinch popcorn recipe because well, there is just no contest when it comes to our favorite Christmas character – the Grinch is always a winner here! It may have taken those whos down in Whoville a little time to have figured it out because he stole Christmas, but he’s really not so bad after all.
He’s practically a hairy green teddy bear. As a matter of fact if you ask just about any parent out there we all get just a little bit Grinchy at some point during the holidays. After all it’s hard to not feel a little bit overwhelmed with all that holiday hullabaloo!
Speaking of all that holiday hullabaloo we’ve got the perfect treat to share today to help you check off that list, Grinch Popcorn! Perfect for class snacks, holiday treat bags, playdates, parties, and even that cranky old neighbor down that road (who really could be the Grinch).
The addition of the Red Heart Quin sprinkles is the perfect touch don’t you think? How else could his heart grow three sizes without those?! Top with some extra lime jimmies and you are on your way!
Easy Green Popcorn Is Grinchy’s Favorite
This Grinch popcorn recipe was inspired by our Christmas sprinkle mix, Mean One which is of course inspired by the Grinch himself. It includes lime green sprinkles, red heart quin sprinkles, and more! It’s perfectly Grinch-y if you ask us, most definitely one of our favorite mixes this holiday season. This popcorn is so easy you won’t even believe it, and how perfect does it look served in our green stripe treat cups?
How To Make Easy Grinch Popcorn Recipe
- 14 cups popped popcorn (7oz pre-popped bag, because hello easy!)
- 8 oz green melting chocolate (or melting chocolate + green food coloring)
- 1 bag of Mean One sprinkle mix with red heart sprinkles
To make, melt the chocolate in a microwave safe bowl and stir every 30 seconds or so. Once melted sufficiently, pour melted chocolate over popcorn in a large bowl.
Then, gently stir with spatula until all of it is coated green. Line a large baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper then spread popcorn out on the paper. Sprinkle with as much sprinkles as you would like! Let dry and enjoy!
Whether you are popping your own or starting with packaged popcorn, ousing a double boiler or using a microwave to melt already green candy melts, this recipe is going to be the envy of your Grinch party!
