Say hello to our newest cupcake on the blog, Christmas Tree cupcakes! These beauties feature our newest sprinkle mix, Tinsel Town. Just look at that sprinkle rim, it looks like presents under the tree doesn’t it?
Our gold shimmer sugar pearls are the perfect topper too! These are so fun for your upcoming holiday parties! This modern sprinkle mix is the perfect color combo to mimic this iconic holiday shape don’t you think? We added our newest gold jimmies sprinkles for a little fancy sprinkles pop!
Christmas tree cupcakes are a must when it comes to holiday party desserts. They are simple, festive, easy to serve, and oh so cute. While we were getting our Christmas on in the kitchen we thought we would share with all of your just how simple it is to make these cupcakes. First, you are going to need some cupcakes. We baked ours in our light green BakeBright greaseproof liners. With several shades of green to pick from they make the perfect base to our Christmas tree cupcakes.
Next, you will need a batch of icing, we shared our favorite cupcake icing recipe here. Be sure you dye yours green, or whatever color of tree you fancy. Not sure how many bags of sprinkles you need? Check out our conversion How Many Sprinkles Do I Need charts for cupcakes or cakes!

How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes
1. With a large round tip, pipe the bottom base of the frosting. Start with a little blob in the center, then a smooth ring around it.
2. Dip the first layer into Christmas sprinkles. Chill in the fridge for 5 minutes.
3. With a jumbo open star tip, pipe a nice tall swirl on top of the first layer. Add a few sprinkles and a sugar pearl on the very top. Enjoy!
Mix and match with any sprinkles for a truly unique look to match your party! Just remember, the jumbo tip is needed to really get this fluffy icing big and tall like a tree.
Other Christmas Tree Cupcakes Ideas
There are so many other ways to make this Christmas cupcake dessert idea. We are sure you’ve seen the sugar cone version with a regular size or even mini version on top of the cupcake. We chose to do a fluffy vanilla frosting version that is quick and easy. Just add green food coloring to the white frosting and you are on your way. No need to have a crunchy cone center if you don’t want.
You could color some of the white icing red and swirl with the green frosting for a two tone batch like we did here. One of our favorite ideas though is to keep the green frosting and fold in some rainbow nonpareils for a look alike Christmas tree top. It will look like just a real Christmas tree with the rainbow sprinkles being the lights! Add one of our star quins on top for a finishing look!
No matter what you decide, this cupcake tutorial would be the perfect classroom party idea! Set up a little kids table for your holiday party for a perfect, family friend kids activity.
