One of our very favorite snacks is pretzels so how could we not make a whole post for the upcoming holidays? These modern, colorful Christmas chocolate covered pretzel rods are an epic snack for the Christmas season!
The holidays are literally RIGHT around the corner Sweets Squad and you know what that means, holiday baking! Cookies, sprinkles, cupcakes, oh my! We simply could not be any more excited. After all Sweets & Treats are kind of our thing around here. It might only be November but we couldn’t resist jumping right in with these Merry & Bright Christmas Pretzel Rods.
Pick Your Sprinkle Mix First!
Just a few weeks ago we launched November’s monthly sprinkle mix kit Merry & Bright. It just might be our favorite kit yet. Can we just swoon over these colors a moment here? Ahhh…in case you missed the launch you can find more info here and the kit is available to purchase here, but only in the month of November! Each kit comes with 12 different sprinkles/blends and mixing bags and a cute little spoon to get you started. You can start with the blends in the kit or make your own! Chocolate pretzel rods are a staple around the holidays. We couldn’t think of a better way to play with our mix kit then covering them in Merry & Bright Christmas sprinkles. It would be just as fun and festive for other holidays by switching up the color of the melted chocolate and the sprinkles used.
Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods Ingredients
To make these yummy Merry & Bright chocolate pretzels, you only need a few things. This is such an easy sweet, grab your kiddos for some fun family time. You just need the items below.
- pretzel rods
- melting chocolate in any flavors you’d like. We use a combination of milk chocolate, semi sweet chocolate, white chocolate, and colorful candy melts unless you want to color your chocolate yourself.
- parchment paper
- large baking sheet
- microwave safe bowl (or double boilers if you plan on melting over the stove)
- sprinkles of any kind.
How To Make Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods Recipe
Making these Christmas chocolate pretzel rods is so easy! Just simply melt the melting chocolate in a small bowl. We like to use a spoon to spoon the chocolate over the rod instead of dipping. Much easier! But if you have a taller container, dipping is great because you can still hold on to the rod after you dipped it. Once you dip the pretzel rods, gently tap them on the side of the bowl until the excess chocolate has dripped back into the bowl. Gently scrape the bottom side along the bowl to get any additional off before placing on parchment lined baking sheet to set. To make our pretty color palette of pretzels we covered half the pretzels in the Merry & Bright sprinkle mix and half the pretzels in the Merry & Modern sugar crystals mix, both included in the Mix Kit.
Then to add more colors we simply colored the chocolate covered pretzel rods in each of the single colors that come with the kit. You could have a little fun mixing other combos here if you would like!
So simple yet they come together so great! We really just can’t get enough. You’ll be taking these Christmas chocolate covered pretzels rods to work to snack on during the day!
The best part, we barely made a dent in our mix kit sprinkles. After covering a whole bag of pretzels in sprinkles we still have so many to go around for other treats! Don’t forget, we also have the Merry & Bright + Merry & Modern sweet sprinkle mixes available separately.
